New things everyday! Hadley is doing so well. I got to talk to him on the phone today, I was telling him about our night last night and telling him that we will be down to see him tomorrow after work. When I told him that he said "OK" plain as he would have before his accident I also told him that I loved him and he was trying to say that back as well!! It is wonderful to hear him trying to talk. He is definitely doing well!
I know that deep down everyone is still worrying about the surgery that Hadley will have to go down to Utah for. I don't have much information about that yet but will let you know when we get it what exactly will be done and when they will be doing it. We are just hoping that Hadley keeps making progress and his brain will be healthy enough to do the surgery and stay healthy after the surgery. I guess that blessings come in disguise sometimes. We are not grateful that Hadley was hurt so bad in this accident, but we are grateful that we know now that he had this spot on his brain and that they can operate on it. It will be wonderful when all of this is over with and we can take Hadley home. It is just going to take a while until we reach that point we are grateful for every minute that we have had and will have with Hadley. We love you Buddy!
I will get more pictures taken of Hadley to update the blog when we go to visit tomorrow. He looks so good! A friend of his at school has said that a group of them from school would like to go down and visit. I am so excited for that to happen I think that it would really help Hadley to see his friends and know that they are thinking about him.

We have had a great weekend! Both of our fundraisers went so well! I want to thank everyone who helped us out with those. Parker's Sand and Gravel was great to donate there shop and time for the garage sale. Everyone at the Hillman horse sale helped out and the day ran so good there as well.
The best part of our weekend was after the horse sale we all went over to see Hadley. We all tromped through the hospital with spurs and cowboy hats on and when we got to Hadley's door and started to go in Hadley lit up with the biggest smile on his face. It was so wonderful to see him do that and be so happy. We all stayed for a while and talked and joked with Hadley. He did get 20 dollars from Dave. Everyone has a little game going on with Hadley if he can reach far enough to grab the money he gets to keep it, when this is all said and done Hadley will be rich and everyone else is going to be broke.
Today Hadley has made a huge step and has actually said some words. He told Randy to stop when Randy was teasing him and poking him and also said pears. This is so great for us to know that Hadley can talk and wants to talk. It just comes to show that hard work and determination does pay off. I think that Hadley is definitely wanting to do everything but just needs a little help learning how to control his brain and his body over again.
We truly appreciate everything that everyone has done to help us. The garage sale was amazing the donations and all the people that helped set up, sell everything and then come back and pack everything up that didn't sell was so wonderful.
Thanks Again,
Kimorie

Everyday there is something new that Hadley does. He is doing really well with his therapy. His speech therapist says he is doing great. They have done some activities to see how well he can read and Hadley is doing wonderful with those. They will bring in flashcards and objects for Hadley to look at, and she will have him read the word and then point or look at the object that the word says. Hadley does it and he can read!! The regular therapy that do for Hadley on his movement he is making progress as well. He can know stand up a little better and even kick his feet out. Hadley still hasn't been able to talk but does make some noises to try to tell us what he needs, likes or doesn't like. Everything is baby steps but there are definately good things happening!!

Making Progress slowly but surely!! Hadley has been doing great the past few days. He is still doing good with his therapy and trying his best. Everyday he does a little better with old things or can do the new things they want him to do. Keep it up Hadley!
Yesterday Dr. Allan was in seeing Hadley and held up a 20 dollar bill. He told Hadley that if he could reach it he could have it. Hadley was trying so hard to get the money but couldn't quite reach it. I think having a doctor that does things like that and tries to be your friend is really helpful for Hadley and for us. When they try to have some fun and be positive it puts a whole other perspective on things and you focus more on the positive instead of the negative. I called down to talk to Sheila yesterday and she just started laughing while I was on the phone with her. She said that Randy was poking at Hadley, which they are always picking on each other, and Hadley tried to hit Randy back!! Which means to our family he is getting closer and closer to being back to himself. Before Hadley's accident I would always tease Mike that he better not mess with Hadley because he is pretty close to being able to whip him. And I hope that in not to long I will be saying that same thing again!
I am so proud of Hadley and the progress he is making everyday!
We Love you Hadley!!

Sorry it has taken me so long to update today! Hadley is having a good day today, I just talked to Sheila she said that he had therapy and did really well. He is starting to work with the therapist and do some of the things on his own. Sheila said that today he was helping out with his legs more than he has been. They still haven't moved him up to the 6th floor (Therapy Floor) yet but keep telling us he will go soon. He was resting when I called but I did get to talk to him on speaker phone and they said that he was smiling at the phone while I was talking to him. I will update again soon.

I want to remind everyone that this weekend on Saturday there will be a Garage Sale Fundraiser in St. Anthony at Parkers Sand and Gravel that starts at 9:00 a.m. If anyone is interested in taking things to the Garage Sale you can contact Jamie at 709-3993. Also there will be a Benefit Auction in Idaho Falls, at the Idaho Falls Livestock Sale Yard starting at 1:00. We have been involved with the Hillman/Lynn Production Sale for a long time now and they have been kind enough to do a Benefit for Hadley that day as well as the regular Horse Sale.

Hadley is doing so well! He had a good weekend and is making progress everyday. They have started more therapy the last few days and he has even got to go outside!! They are going to move him to a different floor today, he will be there for a few days and then he will be moved to a therapy floor. That floor will be more involved with all kinds of therapy to help him. This weekend was un-eventful one in the way that nothing changed with how Hadley is doing overall. But was also a great weekend in the way that everyday he does something new or makes a step toward showing improvement in some way.
I called down to see how Hadley was doing of Friday and to let them know we would be there after work and Sheila said they were outside sitting with Hadley getting some fresh air. Hadley's niece and nephew Sidnee and Dylan were there visiting and they were all taking about Dylan riding on Hadley like a bull rider would a bull and how he would buck Dylan off of him. Hadley was listening and started to laugh a little and smile. They were all so excited and could barely hold back the tears. Hadley does a little more each day. He doesn't talk yet but when you talk to him he looks at you like he knows exactly what you are talking about.
Friday night we had a visit from Jim and Kelly Stoddard whose son Stetson was also injured in a horse accident a few years ago. I think that it really helped Randy and Sheila to talk to someone that has been through all of this and has an idea of how they are feeling. They gave us some good advice and positive news on how they thought Hadley looked and how he was doing. I know that it helped Sheila to have that comfort from another mother that has gone through the same with her child. I want to tell Jim and Kelly thank you for being there for us we really needed the encouragement that you gave us.
I am sure this week will be a good week for Hadley! He will get to meet new nurses, be in a different area in the hospital and start more therapy. We are all here for you Hadley we know that you have the determination to get where you want to be. It is going to be hard work and tiresome days but we will help you however we can.

We don't have the best of news, but we don't have the worst of news either. The doctor has been in today and explained the situation that Hadley is in. The spot on Hadley's brain that he was born with the doctors are concerned with. They say that it has a 1 in 10 chance of hemorrhaging, so they plan on watching it really closely. In the meantime they are still going to do the therapy, and give his brain a little more time to heal. They are wanting to do this for 30 days and when that 30 days are up they will send Hadley to Utah for surgery on that part of his brain. We want Hadley to get the rest that he needs and hopefully his brain will heal sooner so they can get that spot fixed and we can get past that stage and on to the healing stage.
We are now on day 13 and trust me it feels like months. This makes us all take a step back in life and really think about what is important. I know it has opened my eyes to just what my priorities are some I need to change and some I will never change. I has also opened my eyes to the people that care about Hadley and our family. They have been wonderful and so helpful. It is nice to know that people really sincerely care about us and I want to Thank all of you for the things that you have done.

These are after the ventilator and tubes were removed. The little tube in his nose is a feeding tube and everything else is gone. I am sure he is much more comfortable with all of that off of him. |
