Hadley is doing so well! He had a good weekend and is making progress everyday. They have started more therapy the last few days and he has even got to go outside!! They are going to move him to a different floor today, he will be there for a few days and then he will be moved to a therapy floor. That floor will be more involved with all kinds of therapy to help him. This weekend was un-eventful one in the way that nothing changed with how Hadley is doing overall. But was also a great weekend in the way that everyday he does something new or makes a step toward showing improvement in some way.

I called down to see how Hadley was doing of Friday and to let them know we would be there after work and Sheila said they were outside sitting with Hadley getting some fresh air. Hadley's niece and nephew Sidnee and Dylan were there visiting and they were all taking about Dylan riding on Hadley like a bull rider would a bull and how he would buck Dylan off of him. Hadley was listening and started to laugh a little and smile. They were all so excited and could barely hold back the tears. Hadley does a little more each day. He doesn't talk yet but when you talk to him he looks at you like he knows exactly what you are talking about.

Friday night we had a visit from Jim and Kelly Stoddard whose son Stetson was also injured in a horse accident a few years ago. I think that it really helped Randy and Sheila to talk to someone that has been through all of this and has an idea of how they are feeling. They gave us some good advice and positive news on how they thought Hadley looked and how he was doing. I know that it helped Sheila to have that comfort from another mother that has gone through the same with her child. I want to tell Jim and Kelly thank you for being there for us we really needed the encouragement that you gave us.

I am sure this week will be a good week for Hadley! He will get to meet new nurses, be in a different area in the hospital and start more therapy. We are all here for you Hadley we know that you have the determination to get where you want to be. It is going to be hard work and tiresome days but we will help you however we can.

  1. So glad Hadley is showing improvement! I don't know your family but read about Hadley while putting some coins into his can at the corner store. I've been following your blog hoping for a good update each day. I know this is probably personal, but can you tell me any details about the accident. I have always been scared to death of horses. A true, genuine fear. My husband is the exact opposite and horses are his real passion in life. We have 4 and I worry everyday that something will happen. My 4 year-old daughter got kicked by one last year and was in the ER but everything turned out okay. I always hear tragic accidents involving horses and personally know 2 people that have been killed. I'm not trying to scare you, only understand what happened. Horses are beautiful, majestic animals but their power and unpredictability is what scares me so much. My husband and I are trying to come up with a compromise because I would like to get rid of the horses but don't want to take his dream away. I'm just trying to educate myself as much as possible and show my husband than even with the best of intentions, accidents happen. You don't have to share what happend if you don't want to, I just thought it might help me understand better. I will continue to pray for Hadley and your family, and everytime I run to the store for my soda-I will put my change in the can!! my email is christine.hassman@hotmail.com
